Lumen X+™ is the first digital light processing (DLP) 3D printer specifically designed for the bioprinting of macroporous scaffolds or microfluidic lab-on-a-chip devices. Offering the highest resolution and precision in its class, this breakthrough instrument facilitates the creation of complex structures, including intricate vascularisation, using visible blue light (405 nm) at incredible speeds (up to 50 times faster than other printing methods).
The Lumen X+ builds solid hydrogels by beginning with a droplet of light-sensitive, liquid PhotoInk™ in a vat. An industrial blue-light projector exposes a series of images onto the vat, like a slideshow. The areas of the droplet that are exposed will crosslink and solidify into a single layer. The build platform moves up to allow each layer to stack and build the part.
