Concluding a contract for the supply of a confocal microscope for an entity in Bulgaria

The Management Board of Sygnis S.A., headquartered in Gdansk (“Sygnis”), informs that on January 17, 2024, it concluded an agreement with a company based in Bulgaria, for the supply of a stationary multi-modal illumination, fluorescence and confocal microscopy system (confocal microscope). In addition to supplying the confocal microscope, Sygnis is obliged to install and commission it, train personnel in its operation and provide warranty service. Sygnis is obliged to deliver this microscope within 180 consecutive days and will provide a warranty for a period of 12 months. This agreement is a consequence of the tender won by Sygnis implemented under the public procurement procedure, which Sygnis announced via ESPI Report No. 13/2023 on August 29, 2023.

The microscope in question is a model BC43 manufactured by Belfast-based Andor Technology Ltd. (part of the international group Oxford Instruments plc). It is a confocal microscope designed for, among other things, live imaging, allowing in particular the examination of light-sensitive samples. The value of this contract is BGN 419 000 (i.e., approximately EUR 214 000). Either party may terminate this agreement under the conditions stipulated therein, related primarily to the other party’s default. In addition, the failure of either party to meet the agreed deadlines results in the possibility of financial penalties, with the highest penalty for a delay in the delivery of the microscope limited to 15% of the contract value.

The Management Board points out that the submission of a bid for the supply of this microscope is a consequence of receiving authorization for the sale of these devices, which Sygnis announced in ESPI Report No. 6/2022 on January 28, 2022.

In addition, the Management Board recalls that this agreement is a consequence of another European tender won in Bulgaria, in which Sygnis participated, in line with the implementation of the adopted development strategy for commercial expansion in Southern European countries.
